Hailey is a furniture craftsman. He works primarily with old-growth timber
that has been reclaimed from buildings that are more than a century old such
as: barns, granaries, dance halls, school houses, dairies and hotels.
Born in Toronto, Hailey was influenced by his father -- a cabinet maker and builder, and by his mother -- a poet, writer and radio broadcaster. His work is artistically crafted and constructed by traditional woodworking methods such as mortis and tenon joints, and wood dowels. These traditional methods ensure quality construction and durability.
His first shop, "Snoopers Antiques and Collectibles", was located in The Beaches area of Toronto in the 1980s. There he established his reputation for excellence in furniture restoration and collectibles.
In 1993, he moved his business from The Beaches to Campbellville, Ontario. Here, Hailey's interests evolved from antique collecting and selling into exclusive furniture design and construction. He and his son have worked with some beautiful 18th century reclaimed boards --- some as wide as 32 inches and 2 inches thick.
Hailey was persuaded in 2006 to relocate Snoopers to Kerr St. in Oakville, as many of his customers come from the Burlington and Oakville areas.
You are invited to visit his showroom to view the beautifully handcrafted pieces of furniture, and to touch the lustrous old wood. Hailey takes great pride in the quality and design of his furniture. It will be treasured by your family for generations to come.
